This pair of history-making 2017 Dodge Viper ACRs occupies a special place of pride among the collection of nearly 40 Vipers owned by Dan Snyder Motorsports. In 2017, in the only privately-funded, non-factory-backed endeavor of its kind, a group of American motorsport enthusiasts, with Dan Snyder Motorsports as a leading sponsor, set off for Germany with these very same two 2017 Viper ACRs to demonstrate U.S. automotive prowess on the world-renowned Nürburgring motor course.
According to Car and Driver, the Nürburgring is where "record-chasing runs are a universally accepted, objective measure of a car’s performance.” On September 1, 2017, one of the group’s Vipers, as observed by Road & Track, clocked a 7:01.3 run on the treacherous 12.9 mile Nordschleife or "North loop" track, which winds and climbs around Nürburg’s village, medieval castle and mountainous terrain, setting course records as the fastest manual transmission car, the fastest rear-wheel drive car and the fastest American car ever to race there.
Dan Snyder and his son Mitch have a lifelong passion for motor sports, and in particular, American muscle cars, which has guided them in assembling a growing collection that’s approaching 100 vehicles. Snyder explained, “American muscle cars are a vanishing breed that should be preserved because they’re built for the freedom of open road driving. They give you a feeling of power when you’re behind the wheel that’s absolutely unique to the American driving experience.”
Dan Snyder Motorsports salutes the passion, commitment and tenacity of the independent group that raced these historic Vipers to show the world what’s best about the American car and the American spirit.
